This conference serves as a vital platform for exchanging ideas, challenging assumptions, and envisioning bold solutions that enhance human capabilities and improve the well-being of communities around the world.
2026 7th Midwest Regional Conference
The organizing committee and our dedicated volunteers warmly welcomed all the participants in the 7th Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA) Midwest Regional Conference (MRC) on Science, Technology, and Engineering. The MRC was driven by a shared passion for scientific discovery and engineering innovation, and brought together professionals/ researchers from Chicagoland, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa City, Ohio, Wisconsin, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. 7th MRC provided an excellent opportunity to build new collaborations and strengthen professional networks. As well as, we organized a career development session for students interested in pursuing careers in industry or academia, for a dedicated session specifically designed for undergraduate students.
The KSEA DMV Regional Conference 2026 was successfully held on March 28, 2026, at the Johns Hopkins Medical Campus under the theme “Empowering Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship through U.S. Korea Academic & Industry Collaboration.” The conference was organized to reconnect the Korean-American science and engineering community across the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) region and to provide a platform for exchange among academia, industry, government, entrepreneurship, and students. As described in the conference materials, the event was intended not only to present current research and innovation trends, but also to strengthen U.S.–Korea collaboration and support professional development across career stages.
The Korean Transportation Association in America (KOTAA) successfully held its 2026 Annual Meeting on January 11, 2026, in Washington, DC, during the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting. The event brought together transportation professionals, researchers, and students from across the United States and Korea, providing an opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen professional networks, and foster collaboration within the transportation community.
The annual KAMS gathering serves as an important platform for networking and collaboration among Korean materials scientists and engineers in both the United States and Korea. Since around 1994, the event has traditionally been held in conjunction with the TMS (The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society) Annual Meeting, leveraging TMS’s longstanding prominence as one of the oldest and most respected materials research societies in the U.S.
The 2026 Korea Night, co-hosted by the Association of Korean Physicists in America (AKPA) and the Korean Physical Society (KPS), was held on Wednesday, March 18, starting at 7:00 PM at Dae Gee Korean BBQ near downtown Denver, during the American Physical Society (APS) Global Physics Summit. The evening featured excellent dining and lively networking among approximately 80 attendees, including many Ph.D. students, postdoctoral researchers, and faculty members.

The KOLIS 2025 Fall Scientific Networking event
The KOLIS 2025 Fall Scientific Networking event was held on October 18, 2025, to facilitate close networking among scientists and engineers with diverse experience and expertise. This event was kindly supported by the KASBP-SF, KWiSE-SF, KSEA, and the company named Liner. The schedule ran from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, with an opening address by Woogwang Sim, KOLIS 2025 president, to organize registration and welcome the participants. Firstly, we introduced the supporting organizations and the company to the participants, encouraging them to join each organization’s membership and recommending that they freely engage in career and scientific networking among university postdocs, company scientists, and engineers.
The Korean-American Women in Science and Engineering (KWiSE) recently hosted its Global Mentoring Program’s STEM Career Talk Concert. This joint initiative successfully cultivated a Transpacific Mentorship Network, connecting students and early-career researchers with established AI experts. The event focused on defining "AI Citizenship"—the blend of technical agility and leadership needed today—while offering practical advice to help early-career women scientists overcome professional hurdles and build career resilience.
The KSEA Philadelphia Chapter recently hosted a landmark event that underscored the transformative power of cross-disciplinary collaboration in the modern scientific landscape. On February 27, 2026, the 2026 US-Korea Northeastern Symposium on AI, Biomedical Science & Engineering convened at the state-of-the-art Smilow Center for Translational Research at the University of Pennsylvania. Set within the prestigious Arthur H. Rubenstein Auditorium, the symposium gathered a diverse group of approximately 80 researchers, students, and industry professionals. The gathering was united under a visionary theme: "Pioneering the Future: The Convergence of AI, Bio-Science, and Engineering," a topic that reflects the cutting edge of contemporary scientific inquiry.
The Nevada Chapter of the Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA) held its Inaugural Meeting and 2026 Nevada Interdisciplinary Research Symposium on March 7, 2026, at the Science & Engineering Building (SEB) Auditorium at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). The event marked a historic milestone for the Korean-American science and engineering community in Nevada, bringing together 31participants (25 KSEA members), including faculty members, researchers, students, and community leaders.

On March 28, 2026, the KSEA Austin Chapter YG group hosted the second annual SEED in Austin workshop at The University of Texas at Austin. Standing for Scientists and Engineers Early Career Development, this year’s program sharpened its focus exclusively on academic career trajectories, building upon the broad career overview provided during last year's inaugural event.
The KSEA Gainesville Chapter (KSEA GFC), in collaboration with the University of Florida KSEA (UF KSEA), recently hosted its 2026 Annual Banquet. It was a landmark evening dedicated to celebrating a year of significant technical and academic milestones while focusing on service recognition, membership growth, and the strengthening of our local Korean-American scientific community.
